I will handle all of the details before we set sail, then will be onboard to help as needed as well. We will meet together the first night for a cocktail or tea to get to know each other, then you can go it alone or hang out with us! Either way, I look forward to sailing with you!
You are invited to join us on March 20th as we board the AmaBella of AmaWaterways. We will be your hosts as we sail the beautiful Danube River. Those longing for the romance of Old-World Europe will get to travel into the very heart of the continent, where empires were built, kings and queens were crowned and some of the world’s greatest music was composed and performed by the likes of Mozart and Beethoven. Grand European cities like Prague, Vienna, Bratislava and Budapest forever remain timeless. Admire the beauty of the Czech Republic’s charming mountain town, Ceský Krumlov. Visit one of Austria’s greatest wineries, Schloss Gobelsburg, which has a documented viticulture history dating back to the 12th century, and while there, taste some of the greatest examples of Riesling and Grüner Veltliner wines in the world. From grand abbeys and fortresses perched high above the Danube to plentiful iconic UNESCO World Heritage Sites, be romanced by the Danube with all her regal and romantic splendor.
For even more information about the sailing, you may click the Romantic Danube Wine Cruise link below. For detailed information including what to expect each day as well as pricing, keep scrolling!!
Check in is not usually until around 3:00 PM, giving you plenty of time to check out the quaint town of Vilshofen.
Get acquainted with your home away from home for the week.
Get to know the people you will be dining with for the week. Potentially people you will keep in touch with long after the cruise. Dinner on the AmaBella will delight. There are choices for all tastes, but the Chef's Choice is typically my favorite. Sodas, beer, and wine are limitless during lunch and dinner onboard.
Enjoy traditional beer, pretzels, folk music and dancing to kick your week off in the most fantastic and lively way!
All tour options each day are included in the all-inclusive pricing of the cruise.

For the more active adventurer, you can venture high above the town for a visit to the majestic ruins of Kuenringer Castle, or “Dürnstein” (dry stone) castle from which Dürnstein derives its name. After free time in Durnstein, you will leave for a special wine tasting in Weissenkirchen, nestled in the Wachau Valley. Wines from the Weissenkirchen region tend to have a pronounced freshness, spiciness, finesse and complexity. Locally grown Rieslings and Grüner Veltliners are renowned around the world and you will get to sample a few.
On this day, you will select an AM tour as well as enjoy a PM wine tasting at Schloss Gobelsburg.
Visit the UNESCO-designated Melk Abbey (Stift Melk), one of Europe’s largest and most revered Baroque monasteries. Within these walls, you will find frescos painted by Johann Michael Rottmayr and Paul Troger, as well as a famed collection of musical manuscripts. After your tour, enjoy free time exploring the picturesque village of Melk, one of Europe’s great cultural heritage sites. Or for the more active cruise, take a guided bike tour through the picturesque Wachau Valley. Sail to Krems, where you will enjoy a special wine tasting at Schloss Gobelsburg, formerly a Cistercian monastery, one of the oldest wineries in Austria. Visit this beautiful castle and have the opportunity to tour their cellars, learning more about the traditional methods drawn from historical wine-making practices, as well as tasting some traditional Austrian wines.
On this day, you will select both an AM tour in Vienna and then enjoy wine and live music in a traditional wine tavern.
The “City of Waltzes” offers a treasure trove of gems and your city tour showcases them, including the majestic Opera House and the former Imperial Palace. Your tour concludes in the historic city center with a visit to St. Stephen’s Cathedral. Or if you prefer a more active tour, take a guided bike ride through Vienna. In the evening, enjoy wine and live music at a traditional Austrian Heuriger (wine tavern).
On this day, you will either select the "Queen of the Danube Tour" or the Budapest Castle Hike
Esztergom is your gateway to Budapest. Your city tour begins at Budapest’s Great Market Hall, where you’ll discover plenty of delicious food and shopping. Afterwards, you’ll visit both the Buda (hilly) and Pest (flat) sides of the Danube River. You’ll see the 19th-century Chain Bridge, which connects the Buda district with Pest; and the UNESCO-designated Castle Hill district, which contains some of Budapest’s most important medieval monuments and museums. As an alternative choice, you can hike up to Castle Hill for breathtaking views of the city below.
Some Special Things To Look Forward To
Each day after all your touring, you can freshen up and meet in the lounge for a nightly "Sip and Sail." During this hour to hour and a half, you get to enjoy the signature cocktail of the day, or any cocktail of your choosing until it is time for dinner. In fact, try a few different ones, if you like. Your tour director may also share details of the following day at this time.
Consider accepting an invitation to dine at the Chef's Table one night. You will be wowed with the culinary excellence. This experience is also included in the cost of the cruise, so please indulge. But once is probably enough, as the menu will be the same all week in the Chef's Table.
On this night, everyone will have a chance to thank the Captain and his crew for an exceptional time on the rivers of Europe. Most people dress a little nicer on this night. Cheers to all the people who make these experiences so special.

I have toured each room and there is not a bad room on the ship. You cannot choose wrong. The French Balcony is a nice mid-range option that allows you to open the entire window wall for a great view and is the most popular choice. The weather will be chilly and you are rarely in your room, so opting for the fixed window is perfectly great as well. If you are looking to indulge a bit, go for the twin balcony where you will get the French balcony as well as a walkout balcony. If you have questions, do please let me know.
