Many hotels near the port will offer free (or discounted) cruise parking and/or shuttles to the ship. Also, independent parking lots offer cheaper cruise parking.
Always bring some small bills for tipping your cab driver, etc. in port.
American dollars are widely accepted in cruise ports. Credit and debit cards are accepted in ports but call your company first and let them know that you will be traveling abroad.
