Having travel protection is definitely important and I recommend it for everyone.
Depending on the option you select it may cover between 75% – 100% of the cancellation of a trip and many other things like unexpected medical expenses, baggage, and flight delays.
There are 3 different kinds of policies to choose from and since we’re not an insurance agent and therefore cannot answer questions regarding any travel insurance policies we have found that this is the easiest way to compare them. This is the insurance company we personally like and suggest but you are welcome to purchase Travel Protection through any entity that you choose.
You will need to answer a few questions about your trip and then you’ll receive policy options and pricing. The above link will give you different plan options (Worldwide Trip Protector, Worldwide Trip Protector Edge & Basic Medical) as well as optional add-on coverage for other areas of your trip.
The “Worldwide Trip Protector ” policy allows you to add the option CFAR (Cancel for Any Reason). However, you must purchase the insurance no later than 21 days from the day you make your reservation. FYI, CFAR is not available for New York State residents. Please note, CFAR reimburses up to 75% of the insured cost.
The Worldwide Trip Protector plan, which does not include the CFAR option, can still be purchased after 21 days from the time you booked but it will not cover the Pre-Existing Condition Exclusion Waiver or the Bankruptcy/Default of an airline, cruise line, tour operator or other travel providers. However, you can still cancel for a covered reason and potentially get up to a 100% refund as long as it’s a covered reason.
