😳 ONLY 2 spots LEFT!! Are you in? (Double Room)
Join me for this magical Christmas small group experience in Bavaria, Germany, December 2025. We will be visiting some of the most historical Christmas markets as well as small enchanting towns throughout the region.
Enjoy a personal tour as I (©Travel with Wendy) take you personally around this country I love after living here for nine years! We will immerse ourselves in the festive spirit exploring these traditional Christmas markets that began around the 1300's.
In Munich, we will wander through historic streets adorned with twinkle lights, sip on mulled wine and taste some really delicious seasonal treats. We will also visit some of my favorite eateries along the way too in a traditional "Biergarten." One of the oldest recorded markets in Münich from 1343 has been enjoying roasted chestnuts and ginger cookies as well as Krautschupfnudeln (which is cabbage, pasta and bacon) as well as some of the best "wursts" in the world!
We will then venture onto Nurnberg & Bamberg these northern Bavarian towns are famous for some of the oldest markets and include wooden ornaments and toys, local and regional artisans and in Bamberg (smokey beer) with different kinds of shopping.
As we venture into the Alps, you will marvel at the stunning, snow-peaked mountains and charming villages blanketed in white. Along the way, I will also share with you some local historic moments and stop at some of my favorite places along the way. Once we arrive in Oberammergau and settle in, we can make our way to nearby enchanting town of Garmisch-Partenkirchen and the angelic town of Ettal filled with castles and majestic monasteries so picturesque you won't want to leave.
Next, we make our way to Innsbruck. Innsbruck is a picturesque city located in the western part of Austria, nestled in the heart of the Alps. It is rich in history, mountain scenery and has a vibrant culture. One of my favorite unsung heroes of Europe.
Our itinerary begins in Münich, considered the capital of Bavaria this is also the hometown for the long standing Ludwig family. Known for Oktoberfest, Hofbrauhaus, and WWII history. The city is surrounded by Baroque and modern architecture blending new and old.
We then make our way up north to Nürnberg and Bamberg, the largest Franconian city grew the most during the 11th century and has one of the most famous Christmas Markets in the world visited by thousands every year. Music concerts and church services are offered throughout the advent calendar.
Bamberg steeped in medieval structures and buildings from the middle ages this enchanting smaller town sometimes goes unnoticed because of nearby bigger cities, but I love this smaller town and shopping! Bamberg is also a UNESCO World Heritage protected city.
Ettal on our way down south the the Alps we will pop into this quaint town to grab a bite to eat and tour the monastery before we make our way to Oberammergau. Known for the town for the Passion of the Christ this incredible town gets so involved and you can see the theater and amphitheater where it is performed every ten years. Also notorious for their wood carvings and local artisans who have passed down a history of woodmaking still.
Garmisch-Partenkirchen the quintessential Bavarian town right at the Austrian border will leave you with unforgettable memories. Still holds a small Christmas market with local vendors and has one of the BEST Bavarian restaurants with great staff! I will take you HERE to enjoy some ummpa music!
