Link to Registration and Deposit to Secure Your Spot!

North Iceland is a region of dramatic contrasts - where volcanic landscapes meet Arctic serenity, and charming towns are nestled between fjords and snow-capped peaks. It's less touristy than the south, making it perfect for our yoga retreat, and anyone seeking raw nature, cultural depth, and unforgettable adventures.

We'll stay in the town of Akureyri, often called the "Capital of the North," which is the nation's second-largest city. Situated at the head of Iceland's longest fjord, Akureyri is a charming town packed with culture, nature, and quirky surprises.

More detail about Hotel Akureyri:
Hotel Akureyri has a beautiful location in central Akureyri, just a block from the fjord. It is locally owned and run. The original hotel structure was built in 1924 and was converted to a hotel that still has the original hotel rooms. A second structure was the original movie theater in Akureyri, and offers a second addition to the hotel with quirky movie themed rooms. In 2024, the hotel began its current expansion to 2 additional new buildings with exceptional modern design and simplicity. Our retreat group rooms are in these newer buildings.

The single rooms are actually in the hotel's “double” room category, but since the room is petite by American standards, and has an American sized Full / Queen bed, we have arranged for these rooms to be single occupancy. The rooms we offer as double rooms are the superior rooms with larger floor plan and King sized bed. These are perfect for couples, but can also be used by 2 friends who don’t mind sharing a King bed.

Here’s a curated list of what to see and do in Akureyri:
