Venetians think that a Bacaro tour is much more than eating and drinking, is actually a kind of ritual. The bacari are more than simple wine-bars, they are institutions where locals go to socialise, relax and have fun.
This tour is a full immersion into this local 'philosophy', a must-do if you really want to discover the most genuine Venice.
We will explore Venice's back-streets to find the best bacari where you will mingle with locals.
You will learn (and taste ) what 'Cicchetti' are ( and why you don't have to call it tapas !) and why we call 'ombra' a glass of wine.
The tour starts at 6:00 PM and last 2:30 hours. You won't have any space for dinner after it.
You can actually do the tour on your own, we can provide you with a map of the nicest Bacari, and you could have it at leisure.
Ca Sagredo 15th century Palace has been declared a National Monument and still preserves the untouched beauty of an ancient noble Residence.
It oozes romance while the opulently frescoed ballroom and lounge echoes with epic events of the past.
Just gliding up the imposing marble staircase; whilst resisting a tap on a cherub’s peachy cheek, feels positively regal.
Ca’ Sagredo’s views of the canal life and the historical Rialto Market opposite are storybook scenes of old.
The hotel’s 42 magnificently appointed rooms and suites are a seriously suggestive sight to behold with classic Venetian styling.
Historical evidence suggest that when Germanic tribes ravaged northern Italy in the 5th century, many mainlanders escaped to this difficult-to-access area on the Adriatic Sea.
Over the centuries the refugee community grew into the most powerful trading port in the Mediterranean. At its peak, Venice counted 3.000 trade ships and 300 navy vessels. The result of centuries of constant development are a truly unique city of an unprecedented beauty.

You will navigate Canal Grande, the largest canal in town, almost 4 km long and 90-metre-wide in some parts, with an average depth of 5 metres. There are plenty of famous buildings located along the river which is crossed by three stunning bridges, including the world famous Ponte di Rialto.
Of course you will see Saint Mark's Basilica, the most famous church in Venice, presenting five round-arched impressive portals as well as a striking marmoreal interior and mosaics. Finally then you will walk through some of the "off the beaten path" sites of this unique city.
Your guide will stop to let you taste local delicacies in the "bacari", local bars that offer the typical Venetian aperitif with an “ombra” (small glass of wine) and a “cicchetto” (something typical to eat).
Exploring Venice lagoon is an unmissable experience and gives the possibility to take a break from the crowds of the city center, and it's much better to experience it on a private boat!
Murano and Burano are the two highlights of the lagoon. Burano has a long tradition of glass blowing, and it is possible to visit the factories and to see how the masters shape the glass, creating vases, sculptures, chandeliers and so on by hand.
Murano, is known for it charming colored houses and for the lace workshops. It's simply fascinating to admire the art and the patience of our lace makers, who nowadays still weave with passion, immersed in the scenery of beautiful colorful houses.
Last stop: a walk through an exclusive vineyard on the island of Mazzorbo. You may actually decide to stop there for a glass of locally produced wine or to a dinner in the starred restaurant.

Verona has an excellent cooking tradition, and you shouldn't miss to eat in a typical restaurant.
One of the most reputed is Trattoria al Pompiere, close to Piazza delle Erbe. Opened in the first half of the last century, the restaurant was born as a simple tavern by the hand of a retired firefighter, who never gave the place a name. For this reason it was named "Al Pompiere" by its patrons, in honor of the founding host.
Simple but classy restaurant with a warm and welcoming atmosphere, furnished with wood and black and white photos on the walls. In a corner of the main room there are 35 different types of cured meats, which Maestro Natalino will be able to advise you with experience; alongside, the cheese counter with about a hundred types, all Italian. Reservation is a must, we can handle it for you.

Huge remains are still visible and are one of Sirmione Main sights (They are called "Grotte di Catullo"). Later, Dante, Goethe, Lord Byron and Stendhal all waxed poetic on Garda and its environs. Other garda lake enthusiasts were James Joyce; Ezra Pound; and Franz Kafka.

The village of Sestri Levante rises in a spectacular landscape and, with its peninsula that divides the "two seas" of the Baia del Silenzio and the Baia delle Favole ("Fairy tail bay"), is one of the most enchanting places that can be chosen as a hub to visit Portofino, the Cinque Terre and Porto Venere.
Walking the narrow, colored streets to look for the perfect boutique, wine bar or restaurant is an experience on its own, and Sestri cuisine is simply delicious.
Many scenic walks are available, such as the tour of Grand Hotel dei Castelli park, with its vertical cliffs diving into the blue of the Mediterranean sea, and the trek to Punta Tragara, to admire one of the most beautiful views on the village and the coast.
Hans Christian Andersen often stayed in Sestri in the nineteenth century, that's why the residents decided to call the largest beach of Sestri Levante Baia delle Favole ("fairy tales bay").
Vis a Vis is perched on a high promontory above Sestri Levante providing spectacular views
over the two beautiful bays of the town, Baia del Silenzio (the Bay of Silence) and Baia delle Favole (Bay of Fairy Tales)

The most convenient way to get from Sestri to Monterosso al Mare is to take a local train.
Departures are roughly every hour. Expected transfer duration: 30-40 minutes.
The five Cinque Terre villages of Manarola, Riomaggiore, Corniglia, Vernazza and Monterosso al Mare, Unesco Heritage sites, have become one of the highlights of a trip to Italy.
The beauty of the pristine sea, the high cliffs of grey rocks and the wild mainland, dotted by rows of vines, olive trees and citrus groves, makes it an unmissable destination for all nature lovers. Even more inspiring, each Cinque Terre village has its own personality and charm.
The ancient nucleus of Monterosso al Mare is perched on a hill from which you can enjoy a splendid view. The ancient Castle, the Church of San Giovanni Battista and the Capuchin Convent are worth seeing. This is also the place with the only beach in the Cinque Terre.
Linked to Monterossa by the Blue Trail path (which crosses the entire national park), Vernazza is home to a characteristic marina confirming its ancient maritime traditions and its probably the most photographed village of the Cinque Terre. The ancient Parish Church of Santa Maria di Antiochia, the Sanctuary of the Madonna di Reggio and the Doria Castle shouldn't be missed.
The less visited Village, the only one without a direct access to the sea is Corniglia. Here travelers can taste the excellent locally produced wines such as the Cinque Terre DOC, La Polenza and the famous Sciacchetrà in a wine bar overlooking the sea.
Manarola, perched on the rocks, is one of the best examples of how man has been able to tame this wild and rocky land, building his own houses and creating terraces for the cultivation of orchards and vineyards. Unique views can be admired from the promontory of Punta Bonfiglio or from the Sanctuary of Nostra Signora della Salute in Volastra.
The last of the Cinque Terre Village, Riomaggiore, is the most visited village of the Cinque Terre, very well known for its red and orange houses built on the cliffs overlooking the sea. From here begins an evocative path, carved into the rock in the early twentieth century, which leads to Manarola: the famous Via dell’Amore.
Travelers can hop from one village to the other in train or by boat, as they prefer. If you feel in good shape, try walking the Blue Trail from Monterosso to Vernazza: it's a scenic walk among the vineyards, with spectacular views on the sea and on Monterosso and Vernazza from the above.
From Riomaggiore train station come back to Sestri with a local train, departures roughly each thirty minutes until 11:00 PM.
You can have dinner in Riomaggiore or in any of the villages.

Expected driving time: 1 hour 20 minutes
Pisa is a world known town north of Florence, home of the "leaning tower", one of Italy's icons.
The first sight not to be missed is Piazza dei Miracoli (“Square of Miracles”), the huge square hosting the tower, the Cathedral, the Baptistery and the monumental graveyard. The square is surrounded by a beautiful green lawn, and the contrast between the green grass and the dazzling white monuments has always struck me. Santa Maria Assunta, the awesome Cathedral, dominates the square with its beautiful Romanesque architecture. It hosts many important works of art, such as the great mosaic of St. John the Evangelist in the apse (1302) by Cimabue, or the Pulpit, a masterpiece by Giovanni Pisano.
If you plan to climb on top of Pisa tower you should reserve your ticket well in advance (of course we can help you with the reservation).

Everywhere you turn in Florence, you find extraordinary works of art and architecture, which attract almost 8 million tourists every year—from the Palazzo Vecchio to the world-famous Uffizi Gallery to the Cathedral with its magnificent dome and the tower designed by Giotto.

A visit to San Gimignano is a complete immersion into the 1300s borgo ambience. In fact, the city (still mostly intact today) is one of the best representatives – in terms of planning and organisation – of the European commune.
Essentially, the urban version of the feudal system from the Middle Ages. The overriding characteristic of San Gimignano – that just about every visitor will notice from a distance – are its spectacular and unmistakable towers that watch over the scene. And each one has its own history.
The town experienced a period of economic wealth and artistic flourish, above all in the mid-1300s, thanks to the merchants and pilgrims traveling along the Via Francigena; the route passed through San Gimignano, dividing it into two. It was also during this time that the town’s foremost families challenged each other in building the highest tower, attempts to exhibit who held the most power.
Around the year 1300, 70 towers symbolized the 70 wealthy families inhabiting this territory. Today, only 13 remain standing. It is the Tuscany that travelers love most, set amidst fields of golden grain, vineyards and ancient hamlets.
You will fall in love as well.

Imagine yourself as emperor Domitian, watching the chariot races in Circus Maximus from the balcony of his imperial palace. Walking down into the Roman forum, you will realise how the area has changed throughout the centuries - from the bustling centre of the ancient capital, into a pasture for sheep and cattle, and then back to its ancient glory after it was excavated in the 19th century.
Many important events took places here: Julius Caesar's cremation, important military processions, the keeping of the sacred flame by the Vestal Virgins, decisions made by senators of the old republic that influenced the destiny of the empire.
But the best is yet to come! Proceed to the great Colosseum, entering though its arches you can imagine gladiator fights and animal hunts as one of the 60, 000 spectators. You will learn about Rome's history and daily customs of its citizens!
Estimated duration: 3 hours

St. Peter's Basilica, with its splendid and imposing dome that rises above the roofs of Rome, is the heart of Christianity and one of the most visited places in the Eternal City.
The amazing basilica, built between 1506 - under Pope Julius II - and 1626 - during the pontificate of Pope Urban VIII - dominates St. Peter's Square. During this period, the popes involved many of the most famous artists at that time, such as Michelangelo, Raffaello, Bramante and Sangallo to design and complete this massive masterpiece. The square, whose works only ended in 1667, is the work of Bernini.
Inside the basilica, its size, opulence and masterpieces, among which the famous Baldachin by Bernini and Michelangelo Pietà, will simply overwhelm you.
A not to be missed experience, the ascent to the top of St Peter's dome offers the best view over Rome and an exciting ascent inside the dome structure. The entrance is on the right side of St Peter's facade (separate ticket needed).
Be prepared to take a lift and to climb 321 steps before getting to the top terrace.
Have you ever dreamed to discover what Rome looked like a couple of centuries ago? Narrow stone paved streets lined by medieval houses? Then take a Trastevere walking tour to enjoy this charming medieval neighborhood full of romance and history. It'a a perfect walk in the late afternoon and at sunset..
Trastevere is named for its position ‘over the Tiber’. Separated from the heart of central Rome by the river, the area retained its narrow lanes and working-class population when the rest of Rome began its nineteenth-century expansion.
Despite its being a major touristic destination, it has managed to preserve a strong local (and “Roman”!) identity. Therefore, it’s not too difficult to step off the main routes and escape the masses.
Roma Sparita is a restaurant in the less crowded and touristic area of Trastevere. They serve one of the best "pasta Cacio e Pepe" in Rome. Reserve in advance and ask to sit outside.
