A Route 66 Tour is a photographers dream! If it isn't on your bucket list - it should be. Depending on your stamina and the number of historic places you decide to visit, you can make it from Illinois to the Santa Monica Pier in a week's time. I've included Rental Car and Airfare information in this guide in the event you don't have enough vacation time for a three week journey. (One week there, One week relaxing on the beach, one week back).

The best time to take a Route 66 road trip is from late spring to early summer and in the early fall. The weather is usually temperate and roads are open, as are most Route 66 businesses.
