A Day Hike on the Seiser Alm Plateau in the Dolomites - Digital Guidebook Example

Dear hiker!

Get ready for your hiking adventure on the iconic Seiser Alm / Alpe di Siusi plateau!

We've created this itinerary to ensure you have a fantastic experience. However, remember that the world can be unpredictable – staying flexible and going with the flow is always a good idea on self-guided tours.

To ensure a safe and enjoyable hike, we kindly ask that you skim the provided handout before setting off on your adventure. In the handout, you will find trail descriptions, hiking distances, and elevation profiles, as well as descriptions of the highlights and sights you will come across along the way.

Where applicable, we have included recommendations for stopping for a break or a meal, allowing you to plan to refill your supplies accordingly. Additionally, when available, we have provided public transport information to help you shorten a stage or skip it altogether in case of bad weather.

Usage Tips

Before you head out each day (or even the evening prior!), we strongly urge you to take a look at the GPS tracks and review the upcoming stage. It will give you a rough idea of where you're going and a clearer understanding of the upcoming trail's unique features.

Additionally, it will also give you a clear understanding of the upcoming trail's unique features, potential challenges, and highlights. Ensure your phone battery is charged, and possibly bring an extra power bank just in case.

GPS Navigation

To ensure you won't get lost on the way, we prepared GPS navigation for all your stages. You can access them all on THIS LINK.

Please note that accessing the GPS tracks through the provided link is mandatory, as it serves as your RSVP and grants you access to the individual stage links.

The application (Ride with GPS) is easy to use, and the link will initially introduce you to a quick how-to-use tutorial. We highly encourage you to test it before your tour to avoid unnecessary issues when you begin your hike.

Once installed, you will be able to use it offline when on the trail. That way, you do not have to worry about spending mobile data or losing a signal on the more remote parts of the hike.

Each day of the itinerary also includes a link to its respective stages. Therefore, you can access them there directly. In each stage, you will find symbols on your GPS trail that signify points of interest. These usually include highlights of the day's stage that you can read more about in the handout, as well as places to eat and rest on the way (mountain huts, restaurants, etc.).

Weather and Emergencies

Remember to check the weather forecast before starting each day, as mountain weather can be highly unpredictable!

Relying solely on observing the clouds can quickly lead to risky situations. It's better to check the forecast daily to ensure you're safe from storms and have enough time to take an alternative route if possible.

For more helpful information, refer to the Information & Documents section of the itinerary, where you will also find contact numbers in case of emergencies and other tips for hiking in the Dolomites.
