This 14-day wildlife and birding adventure across Gujarat takes you through an incredible variety of landscapes – from grasslands and dry deciduous forests to coastal wetlands and salt desert. Begin at Velavadar Blackbuck National Park, a pristine grassland sanctuary known for large herds of blackbuck, the elusive Indian wolf, striped hyena, and spectacular congregations of harriers and other raptors. Move on to Gir National Park, the only place on Earth to see the Asiatic Lion in the wild, where you may also encounter leopards, jungle cats, jackals, and a rich array of forest birds such as paradise flycatchers, minivets, and woodpeckers.
Continue to Jamnagar, a coastal paradise for birders, where marine national parks and wetlands attract thousands of flamingos, pelicans, painted storks, gulls, terns, and other shorebirds. The journey then leads to Bhuj and the Great Rann of Kutch, where arid grasslands and desert plains provide habitat for rare species like the Great Indian Bustard, Macqueen’s Bustard, desert fox, and chinkara, alongside wintering raptors and larks. Finally, explore the Little Rann of Kutch, famous for the Indian Wild Ass and vast flocks of migratory birds such as cranes, storks, and ducks, as well as beautiful desert sunsets.
