The Adventure Club project in the Western Cape works with children from nearby township communities such as Du Noon and Wolwerivier. These communities are culturally diverse, with children mainly coming from Xhosa and Afrikaans-speaking backgrounds. While English is commonly understood, many children primarily speak Xhosa or Afrikaans at home.
The project focuses on providing structured, positive engagement through sport, play, and adventure-based learning. In the mornings, volunteers support Educare centres by facilitating fun, educational activities for children aged 3 to 7, helping to develop early learning, coordination, and social skills through play.
In the afternoons, the programme works with children aged 10 to 15, using adventure sports and group activities to build confidence, teamwork, discipline, and life skills. These sessions provide a safe and supportive environment that encourages positive development and constructive use of after-school time.
